The Importance of Self Regard
You are going to run into unhappy people. It is inevitable. It is the human condition. What most of us don’t realize is – unhappiness is a choice. People often complain about all sorts of things going wrong in their lives and yet, they don’t look to how they have created the unhappiness. No one has the ability to create in your life. They do not have that ability. It is an inside job. All creations are self creations. Knowing this gives you lots of control over your life.
You may find yourself dealing with someone who is unhappy with you. How you proceed is up to you. Nobody else can decide that for you. Yet, we are divinely guided. The soft murmurings you hear when you are in quiet moments are there to assist and guide you if you request the help. You have the ability to access that intuitive voice when you need it.
Self regard means you listen to your inner promptings. You listen to your gut reactions. You listen to your intuitive voice. Self regard means you already know the answer to your questions. You have the ability to access all information that you require. You are the master of your ship. You decide what waters you will take your ship into. If you don’t listen and don’t take care of your ship you will end up in rough seas or getting swamped in the storm.
You must be ready for the rough waters as they are created by the interactions between our unclear and unconscious fears and another person’s unclear and unconscious fears. When our fears bang up against each other we have a storm. The way to calm the storm is to know that you are creating it. You have the ability to calm the winds and settle the churning seas. All you need do is move inward and see what it is you fear. Notice the fear and send love and acceptance to it. Sending love will help it dissipate and the storm will begin to subside. This is how you show yourself care and regard. So, you make the necessary adjustments and you can move ahead smoothly.
Self regard does not come easily to most of us. A majority of us are externally focused and spending time on our internal reactions does not come easily. If you do not spend the time to internally assess, then you will continue to draw more storms into your life. Storms occur to provide you with information – the weather conditions are unsettled. Your emotions are unsettled. Your emotions are harbingers of information. They are your internal messengers. They are there to give you the information you require to move forward safely and smoothly.
Do not fear the unsettled weather conditions. Without the storms the calm patches would lose their significance. You do not learn about your inner turmoil during the calm weather. It is during the calm periods you gather your reserves and rest your ship. You rest so that when the storm occurs, as it inevitably will, you have readied the crew and done upkeep on the ship so it will stay afloat. Know that you can withstand the storms. That is self regard.
